From the bestselling author of the hit zombie series, A Little More Dead, comes a terrifying tale that will leave the reader afraid to go near the water. Fans of The Fog and Jaws will not be able to put this one down!

For something dark has been brewing in the small town of Minot, North Dakota.
Something waiting for the perfect storm to free it from its shackles.
Something that only comes out when it rains…

Rory thought losing his dream job and moving back in with his parents was bad. He thought having to face the one that got away was even worse. On his second day back home, he gets dragged into a night of camping by his best friend Woody and, of course, Rachel is there. Looking just as beautiful as the day she left him. Her new boyfriend, on the other hand, just looks plain jealous. Under a blanket of stars, quiet ghost stories around the popping fire lead to skinny-dipping in the silvery moonlight, just like old times. But when people start disappearing beneath the water, Rory will have to fight hard to save his life. He’ll have to fight harder to save hers.

The next morning, the town sheriff finds no trace of wrongdoing. No bodies. No blood. No nada. He shakes his head at their story about the things that came out of the lake – the moss-covered ones that snatched Rory’s friends like crocodiles springing from the water’s edge. It’s a morbid tale the sheriff writes off to an alcohol-infused misunderstanding. Nothing more, nothing less. That is, until more missing persons reports start coming in.

Sheriff Hooper begins to fear a serial killer is on the loose and when he uncovers the shocking truth, he’ll wish it was that easy. When it begins to rain, he’ll wish there was an escape from the evil incarnate unleashed upon his sleepy little town.

Floodwater A Heart Pounding Standalone Zombie Novel eBook Sean Thomas Fisher

Love my zombies! I honestly have over 100 zombie books but this one freaked me out! I had to put the book down and read a different book because I was so uncomfortable. Took me several times having to leave it and work up the nerve to start again. My reason for being freaked.... 2 of the most horrifying movies made that I unfortunately watched when I was young. 1 The Fog and 2. Jaws. Hello... This author combined them and then had a narrator with the ability to make the horror worse! I didn't go into water before due to jaws. I can now add zombies to the reason! I'm glad I was finally able to finish but hope there ends up being a volume 2!

Floodwater A Heart Pounding Standalone Zombie Novel eBook Sean Thomas Fisher Reviews

After reading another seriously disappointing zombie series ( I won't mention the author's name) I needed a pick me up. Sean Thomas Fisher delivered that pick me up with a unique twist on zombie culture. The story line is strong and interesting. I won't go in to too much detail because I hate spoilers, but it kept me interested and wanting to read more. The antagonist character's themselves are like-able even though they are flawed. They're real. The main villain is easily hate-able, I detested him and wished for his demise. The main characters are mostly well-rounded, with a good background, and not flat like other series. The character traits of the zombies are consistent. It seems that this author plans out his stories and knows where he wants them to go. I have read other authors that jump around to much that their stories are hard to follow and lack sense (as in the series I previously mentioned).

I would rate this a 9 out of 10. It's great read and a quick one. Didn't take long to read at all.

I look forward to part 2 and more of Rory's adventures.
I've read some pretty mixed reviews regarding this, so didn't really expect much from it when I started, but I'm so happy to say that I really really enjoyed it.

The plot plodded along nicely. It wasn't extremely fast paced but had a steady pace the whole way through. It centered on a lake in Minot, North Dakota. A funeral parlour decided that they would start dumping bodies into the lake instead of burying them in their fine caskets! Add in a toxic spill and some lightening to hit the lake and, bam, you have you Zombies! I have to say that it was definitely a unique way for the Zombie virus to begin but in a way, I really liked this idea!! Plus after being in the lake a long time, some of the Zombies were grotesque and bloated. *Shudder* Also because the were "born" in the lake, the Zombies can't stray far from water because they can't function without it, so attacks only happen in or around the water, but when a group of friends go camping and partying near the lake, the Zombies attack. The group dwindle down to 3, who make their way for help, only to have the police think they are crazy. They go to the lake but only find the remnants of the party of the night before. While at the lake though, it starts to rain!! Not just rain, but pour! A storm is here, and along with it, the Zombies can rise!!! Who will survive the Floodwater??

As I said, I really loved the idea of how the Zombies came to be and how they can only move if there's water!! Definitely unique in a saturated genre. The characters meanwhile were all well written and developed. From the weird ass mortuary assistant (dude, he was weird with a capital W!!) to the childhood boyfriend/girlfriend reunited! Seriously, this author created a very colourful cast of characters!!!!

In all, this was a surprisingly good Zombie book. It kept my attention throughout and made me want to check out more from this author. I would definitely love to see a second book in this series!

This isn't the first book I've listened to that has been narrated by J. Scott Bennett, nor will it be my last. He has a pleasant and easy to listen to voice and reads a story well. He has a range of tones and voices and always delivers!

*I received a copy of this for review. This in no way affected my thoughts.*
As an avid reader of ZA books, there's nothing better than finding a completely different take on this genre. I loved everything about this story. STF knocks it out of the park with this one!
this was so good! i love zombie books...and this is one of the best. great work ! we all like diff things, but this was so different and written so well, it even scared me. ! now i want book 2!
This is without a doubt the best book Sean Thomas Fisher has put out yet! If you need a zombie story with a twist, strong characters, and some really gripping action, you need to do your self a favor and get this book ASAP!
Floodwater was a great read. Different than the author's other zombie series, which shows off the author's creativity. The creep factor was definitely there, more so than in A Little More Dead. Rory's theme song should be 'Born Under A Bad Sign' by Albert King.... "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all."
Great Story. The plot is very different from your normal zombie story. Right from the first attack I couldn't put it down. I loved little Alex and the things he said to his grandpa. Woody was actually my favorite one. He really ess a hero. Nothing but non stop action in this book. It's a must read immediately.
