The Virtual Pirate Elizabeth Latimer Pirate Hunter prequel eBook Deborah Cannon
The Virtual Pirate by Deborah Cannon is an prequel novella to the YA Pirate Hunter series. It narrates the defining week of Elizabeth Latimer, a headstrong 14 year old, who discovers her fate as a nascent pirate hunter."Liz", as Elizabeth is known, is a writer of highly successful blog, has an attitude with authority, is a junior champion in fencing, speaks to the parrot in her head telepathically, and experiences reality warp.
Pirates make a nice change from YA fiction of vampires and werewolves. This book offers wish fulfillment to the younger set; after all, who wouldn't want to have super powers along with encouraging parents. Other than a tiff with a best friend, there is no angst in this book. Liz is rather humorless and arrogant. If you like iCarly then The Virtual Pirate is right up you creek.
I was given a copy of this book for a honest opinion.

The Virtual Pirate Elizabeth Latimer Pirate Hunter prequel eBook Deborah Cannon Reviews
This is the perfect reading for teenage adventurous girls who want to have some entertainment.
I liked the main characters and the game they've played there.
The idea of a virtual pirate coming to life these days it’s really fun.
This book seems to be written for middle-aged kids, but their parents will have fits. When a 14 year old girl gets a secret cyber-admirer aged 22, alarm bells go off. When he shows up in disguise to warn her off from playing the main role in a play, and disrupts rehearsal to the point where she's kicked out, the alarms are doubled. But when he comes back the NEXT day to KIDNAP the girl who has then gotten the part...You get the picture. This is a love-interest, not a villain. Need I say more?
I was given a free e-copy of this book by the author through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a fun read, and the characters are wonderful.
In the story, teen Elizabeth Latimer’s life-long fascination with everything piratical becomes all too real. Alerted to danger by a mysterious contact through the internet, Elizabeth reluctantly enlists the aid of this would-be ‘cyber-stalker’ to rescue her friend from the real danger of a historical pirate come to life. So begins the adventures of Elizabeth Latimer pirate hunter, as she works together with her family, friends and the elusive ‘Shadowfencer’ to put the world right and send a 5th century Scandinavian pirate back to his own time.
I loved the first book in this series, The Pirate Vortex, and I think fans of Elizabeth Latimer and those new to the series will enjoy this story of how the intelligent and savvy teen became a real life pirate hunter.
I am not familiar with the Liz Latimer Pirate Hunter series but if they are written like this one, I can't recommend them very highly. All action no plot, like a modern Hollywood flick. Too many shifts of identity for my poor old brain. One thing I did like, though, was the excellent depiction of Victoria, BC and the harbor. I recognized it instantly even without the text note. And anything that celebrates International Talk Like a Pirate Day can't be all bad.
